چکیده

Usually, for a complex system, the numerical modeling (with finite elements, control volumes...) of the transient diffusion equation leads to a vector differential equation of large size. Instead of using such a model for the IHCP which is ill posed, we propose here at first the transformation of the original modeling called Detailed Model (DM) into a Reduced Model (RM). This RM emphasizes, in a simple and stable way, the relations between the thermal inputs and the outputs observed and the inversion is much easier.

Determination of a Source Term in an Inverse Heat Conduction Problem by Radial Basis Functions

In this paper, we propose a technique for determining a source term in an inverse heat conduction problem (IHCP) using Radial Basis Functions (RBFs). Because of being very suitable instruments, the RBFs have been applied for solving Partial Dierential Equations (PDEs) by some researchers. In the current study, a stable meshless method will be pro- posed for solving an (I...

Dynamic Observer Method Based on Modified Green’s Functions for Robust and More Stable Inverse Algorithms

This work presents a modified procedure to use the concept of dynamic observers based on Green’s functions to solve inverse problems. The original method can be divided in two distinct steps: i) obtaining a transfer function model GH and; ii) obtaining heat transfer functions GQ and GN and building an identification algorithm. The transfer function model, GH, is obtained from the equivalent dyn...

Estimation of the Strength of the Time-dependent Heat Source using Temperature Distribution at a Point in a Three Layer System

In this paper, the conjugate gradient method coupled with adjoint problem is used in order to solve the inverse heat conduction problem and estimation of the strength of the time- dependent heat source using the temperature distribution at a point in a three layer system. Also, the effect of noisy data on final solution is studied. The numerical solution of the governing equations is obtained b...

A modified VIM for solving an inverse heat conduction problem

In this paper, we will use a modified  variational iteration method (MVIM) for solving an inverse heat conduction problem (IHCP). The approximation of the temperature and the heat flux at  are considered. This method is based on the use of Lagrange multipliers for the identification of optimal values of parameters in a functional in Euclidian space. Applying this technique, a rapid convergent s...

Inverse Problems in Heat Transfer 1

This chapter presents a stochastic modeling and statistical inference approach to the solution of inverse problems in thermal transport systems. Of particular interest is the inverse heat conduction problem (IHCP) of estimating an unknown boundary heat flux in a conducting solid given temperature data within the domain. Even though deterministic sequential and whole time domain estimation metho...
